Heavy Recovery Team Works with Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office to Clear AccidentÂ
Jones Bros heavy recovery services were requested at the scene of an accident on the Pennyrile Parkway. A truck driver driving a gas tanker was driving southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway when he suddenly lost control of the truck. As the truck drifted off to the side of the road, the force caused it to overturn. The trailer came unhooked from the tractor and came to a stop blocking the southbound lanes.
The massive impact created a hole at the bottom of the trailer and within minutes, the smell of gas in the air was noted. This was worrisome as the tanker was fully loaded with gas. Hopkinsville Fire Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Office, and Jones Bros conducted a thorough assessment of the situation. While the trailer itself was leaking diesel, the smell of gasoline permeating the air told them that the tank itself had sustained a leak.
A Hazmat team was called in and carefully drilled multiple holes in the side of the tank in order to vacuum out all of the fuel from the trailer. Once the Hazmat team and the fire department gave the all clear, the heavy recovery team from Jones Bros was able to jump into action. They first got the tractor safely onto their Landoll trailer. Once the tractor was out of the way, they carefully lifted the trailer (now empty of dangerous fuel) and hauled it away from the accident site.
One misstep out there could have led to disaster. A big thank you to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the amazing team at the Hopkinsville Fire Department for ensuring that everyone remained safe during the clean-up operation.
