Towing Company Uprights Overturned Trailer by I-24

Towing Company Called In For Upside Down Hopper Bottom Trailer

Jones Brothers responded to a call requiring a towing company to the scene of an accident in Saint Elmo, Kentucky. A semi pulling a hopper bottom trailer had somehow ran off the road and flipped completely upside down. Hopper bottom trailers are used to transport grain and corn in bulk. Their name is derived from the hoppers at the bottom of the trailer used to empty it.

This particular trailer was filled with locally grown corn kernels. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown. What is known is the mess it left behind. Not only did the team have to contend with an overturned truck, they had to do so amongst piles of corn kernels!

Dream team Mike and Dustin arrived at the scene with a heavy duty wrecker and a medium duty wrecker. The trailer itself was a total loss. Due to the positioning of the trailer and the remaining cargo in it, they chose to carefully roll it over rather than lifting it. They hooked up to the trailer axle with chains and cables and gently rolled it onto its side. Mike and Dustin then repeated the process one more time to completely upright the trailer.

Once upright, Mike and Dustin winched the trailer out of the ditch and up onto the road where they prepped it for towing. They were able to do this in safety as the Christian County Sheriff’s Office was doing an amazing job controlling the flow of traffic on the two lane road.

Mike and Dustin’s years of combined experience in the towing industry was apparent as they completed this job safely, quickly, and efficiently. Great work out there!

A big thank you to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for keeping our team safe!
